DESCRIPTION:
For far too long, communities across the world have been failing those who have fallen on hard times. There are great initiatives in place—but there is so much more that needs to be done. Through Run For Cover, we hope to fill those gaps.
Run For Cover is a 3-day charitable festival and the primary fundraising vehicle for The Rehabilitation Project—our commitment to putting displaced individuals and families on a path back to stable housing and lasting support. Each season, we bring the movement to a new city: three days, three events—Walk for Cover, Ride for Cover, and Run for Cover—one mission. The vision behind The Rehabilitation Project: two dedicated facilities, one for men and one for women and children, built to serve those who need it most.
THE CRISIS IS GROWING:
In January 2024, approximately 770,000 people were experiencing homelessness on a single night — an 18% increase from 2023 and the highest number recorded since tracking began in 2007. National Low Income Housing Coalition
Families with children saw the sharpest rise — homelessness among that group increased 39% in a single year. National Low Income Housing Coalition
Nearly 150,000 children under 18 are currently experiencing homelessness — a 33% increase from 2023. National Low Income Housing Coalition
NYC + LA = 25% of the country's unhoused population.
This is not a distant problem. It lives in our cities, on our streets, and in our communities.
Every finish line is the starting line of someone else's story.
